Chapter 2: Come to cancel the engagement!

It’s finally happening!

It’s finally starting!

Even though I only skimmed that awful, trashy novel — just enough to see the Luo family get wiped out — that was more than enough.

But now… the Luo family has nothing left.

And you, Zhou Shuai, the mighty War God of the Borderlands, the youngest top warrior in all of Huaxia — surely you wouldn’t stoop so low as to bully the weak, right?

I’m staying far away from you. Go chase after whatever girls you want. Has nothing to do with me.

Once the engagement is officially broken, I’m taking my whole family overseas. We’ll find a quiet place and live out our days in peace.

Luo Xinghe had just finished his shower and was sitting on the couch watching TV when a fleet of luxury cars suddenly pulled up outside the apartment complex.

The scene was straight out of a movie — overwhelming presence, massive show of power.

The poor folks in the neighborhood had never seen anything like it. They all started whispering to each other in amazement.

Then, the lead car — a pink supercar — pulled up right outside Luo Xinghe’s building.

A stunning woman stepped out.

Wavy hair flowing down to her waist, sunglasses covering her eyes — a queen among mortals.

Wearing Valentino heels that clicked sharply on the pavement, she didn’t even glance at the gawking residents as she walked straight into the building.

Behind her, a group of sharply dressed bodyguards followed — tall, muscular, and deadly serious.

Everyone nearby was completely stunned.

“Wow… what a show of wealth… and that woman is gorgeous! Like a queen descending to Earth.”

“Must be one of the big shots from Fengcheng.”

“Jeez, that car alone could buy half the buildings in this neighborhood. Where’d this fairy come from?”

“Hey, I think she’s headed to the Luo family’s place. That building’s so old it’s practically falling apart. Other than the Luos, it’s all seniors living there.”

“Shh… maybe Luo Xinghe pissed off someone important during a delivery run.”

“Oh, come on. Use your head — how could a delivery guy provoke someone like that?”

“And what, you got a brain? Then tell me why they’re here.”

“Uhh… hahaha… actually, I need to get back and cook. See ya!”

“Pfft…”

Liu Ruyan stood in front of the weathered wooden door, frowning at how filthy it looked. She gave a quick signal with her hand.

One of the bodyguards stepped up and knocked.

When Luo Xinghe opened the door, the first thing he saw was a breathtakingly beautiful face — and a wall of bodyguards behind her.

Liu Ruyan lightly dabbed her nose with a small handkerchief, then calmly stepped into the apartment.

She had expected the place to reek and be uninhabitable, considering how run-down the building looked from the outside.

But to her surprise, the air inside had a light, pleasant scent.

Though a bit messy, the place was fairly clean — like something out of a family drama on TV.

Luo Xinghe knew exactly why Liu Ruyan was here. Without a word, he stepped aside and let her in.

She immediately noticed Luo Pengtian sitting on the couch.

Her tone was calm and polite:
“Uncle Luo, it’s been a while. I hope you’ve been keeping well?”

Luo Pengtian gave a faint smile and said,
“Not bad. I’ve already understood the Liu family’s intentions.”
“The fact that you came in person—well, it shows that the Liu family’s upbringing is far better than ours.”
“Old Liu really knows how to raise his kids.”

Liu Ruyan paused slightly.

She could clearly hear the sarcasm in Luo Pengtian’s tone.

Calling off an arranged engagement just because the Luo family had fallen into ruin—there was no justifying that, no matter how you spun it.

If you’re going to be so shallow and materialistic, don’t pretend to talk about good manners.

But how could Liu Ruyan possibly accept marrying a delivery guy?

Honestly, if he had just been an average person with a drive to improve, looked as handsome as Luo Xinghe, listened well, worked hard, had a little talent—

Then sure, she might not have pushed for this. After all, breaking off the engagement was a blow to the Liu family’s reputation.

At worst, she’d just marry him as a live-in husband. It’s not like Liu Ruyan ever dreamed of being a housewife.

Taking over the Liu family business—that’s what she truly wanted.

But Luo Xinghe? He was a walking disaster—a legendary screw-up who managed to burn through hundreds of billions in family wealth in just three years.

The Luo family had enough money to support hundreds of generations of ordinary people in luxury.

And yet he still managed to ruin it all.

A guy like that? Absolutely not.

So once Liu Ruyan proposed breaking off the engagement, the Liu family didn’t argue. They silently approved.

But now, hearing Luo Pengtian’s tone, Liu Ruyan started feeling a bit irritated.

What’s left of the Luo family to act high and mighty about?

You really think the Luo family still has the right to lecture the Liu family—or tell her how to behave?

Liu Ruyan gave a light, dry laugh.

“Uncle Luo, don’t blame the Liu family for backing out of the engagement.”

“It’s just that Ah-He (Xinghe) is too exceptional.”

“Even I never thought someone could bring down an entire aristocratic family in just three years.”

“There’s an old saying, isn’t there?”
‘You don’t have to worry about a rich kid wasting money—you worry when he thinks he’s a genius and starts investing blindly.’”

“If Ah-He had simply been your average spoiled rich kid, lazy but harmless, with the deep ties between our families, I would’ve accepted the engagement.”

“After all, Aunt Du practically raised me. I know how much the Luo family has done for the Liu family—I’m not someone who forgets her debts.”

“But…”

“Uncle Luo, don’t worry. The Liu family will offer compensation.”

Liu Ruyan took a folder out of her handbag and placed it down.

“These are the ownership papers for three companies under the Liu Group. They’re performing quite well. There’s also one villa and a dozen properties.”

“These are the Liu family’s compensations. They should help ease the Luo family’s current situation.”

Liu Ruyan glanced at Luo Xinghe, who stood silently off to the side in his food delivery uniform.

“At the very least, it might help ease Brother Luo’s burden a little, right?”

Luo Pengtian’s expression shifted instantly. He pressed his lips tightly together.

Humiliation…

This was a humiliation—not just for him, but for the entire Luo family.

But what could he do? This was the reality. There was no room to argue.

Luo Pengtian let out a long sigh, and the straightness of his back seemed to falter, as if he were caving in just a little.

Seeing his once-proud demeanor retreat, Liu Ruyan couldn’t help but recall the memories of past New Years and holidays spent in the Luo household.

A flicker of guilt surfaced in her heart.

“Uncle Luo… I’m sorry.”

Luo Pengtian was stunned for a moment. Then he waved his hand dismissively and said nothing more.

Luo Xinghe, on the other hand, looked at Liu Ruyan with confusion.

“Sorry?”

That’s not right.

According to the Dragon King novel, the female lead should’ve been cold and condescending by now—she should’ve publicly humiliated the entire Luo family.

Then she should’ve thrown down the annulment papers and slapped them in their faces.

What’s with this apology?

Don’t tell me this novel actually has logic now?

No!

I can’t let Liu Ruyan grow a conscience. I have to act—I need to make sure she cuts all ties and annuls the engagement completely!

Luo Xinghe immediately stood up, yelling like a madman:

“My Luo family doesn’t need your filthy money!”

“Take it away!”

“Let me tell you something!”

“I, Luo Xinghe, will never accept charity!”

“Your Liu family is ungrateful! You look down on me, you look down on the Luo family!”

“Fine!”

“Liu Ruyan, let me tell you, thirty—”

Suddenly, a soft, sultry voice rang out—gentle, alluring, yet deliberately full of power:

“Thirty years on the east bank, thirty years on the west bank—don’t look down on a poor youth!”

Luo Xinghe was so stunned by the sudden interruption that he nearly lost his breath.

He looked up—

A breathtakingly beautiful woman had just walked gracefully into the Luo household, eyes locked onto Luo Xinghe from the moment she entered.

Even when she glanced at the others, it was only a brief sweep—her full attention was on him.
