Chapter 14: A Remarkable Presence Arrives at the Ten Thousand

Demons Sea

Haiyue City

After arriving on the island, Gu Changqing immediately found an inn and settled in with Gu Qing’er, as there were still nearly two days left before the auction began.

In the meantime, they could take some time to explore the island.

Although Gu Changqing had been in this world for over a decade, this was his first time visiting a marketplace for cultivators and martial artists, so everything felt quite novel to him.

After giving Gu Qing’er a few instructions and leaving behind a sound transmission talisman, Gu Changqing left the inn and headed toward the location of the Haiyue Auction House.

Gu Changqing had quite a few pills and materials from a Demon King’s body that he could consign for auction.

Haiyue City truly lived up to its name as the trade hub of the surrounding seas—both sides of the streets were lined with marketplaces and stalls selling all kinds of weapons, spiritual herbs, and beast pelts, teeth, and bones. It was bustling with activity.

Walking all the way down the main street brought him to the Haiyue Auction House.

The auction house was located in the city center, housed in a tower about thirty zhang (approx. 100 meters) tall.

“Welcome. Are you here to consign items or…?”

As soon as he entered the auction house, a steward greeted him warmly and respectfully.

“For consignment. Bring your manager.”

Gu Changqing’s consignment items included materials from a Demon King and numerous high-grade alchemical pills. Their value was far beyond what an ordinary steward could handle.

Hearing this, the steward frowned slightly but forced a polite smile. “May I ask what items you intend to consign? I’m one of the auction house’s stewards—most transactions can be handled by me.”

“Oh?” Gu Changqing looked at him. “You can handle materials from a King-level demon beast?”

“King-level demon beast?”

The steward froze for a moment and then gave Gu Changqing a long look.

Seeing this, Gu Changqing said nothing more and directly tossed him a storage pouch.

The steward caught it and sent his spiritual sense inside to inspect it.

Hiss—

Upon seeing the enormous demon beast carcass lying inside the pouch, the steward gasped in shock.

“I—I’ll fetch the manager immediately. Please wait a moment, sir.” His voice trembled slightly as he returned the pouch and then shouted, “Someone, escort this gentleman to the VIP hall immediately!”

Under the staff’s guidance, Gu Changqing was led to an elegantly decorated private chamber.

Before long, a beautiful and seductive woman dressed in exquisite purple silk appeared in the room.

“Thank you for waiting, young master. My name is Mu Ziyi, and I’m one of the managers here at the auction house.”

The woman appeared to be in her early thirties, exuding a mature allure. She was like a ripe, luscious fruit—irresistibly tempting. Her every movement carried a natural charm.

Even Gu Changqing was momentarily dazed.

“A Charm Body?”

Using the system to examine her, Gu Changqing confirmed his guess.

Innate Charm Body (Blue Grade)

It was indeed a charm body, though not a high-grade one—only blue grade.

Still, people with a charm body were extremely rare—perhaps one in several million.

Such individuals were born merchants and also the dream partner for countless cultivators. They were truly top-tier companions.

It was fortunate that Mu Ziyi had been born into a semi-King level faction like Haiyue Auction House. Otherwise, she would have long been captured and used as a furnace or plaything.

“Gu Changqing,” he said.

After they introduced themselves, Gu Changqing got straight to the point and handed her the storage pouch.

Mu Ziyi was a little surprised.

Gu Changqing had only lost focus for a brief moment upon seeing her and then immediately regained his composure. This level of self-control was far superior to that of most young men she had met.

In the past, every young master she encountered would look at her as if they wanted to devour her whole.

At his age—barely in his twenties, full of vitality—it was rare for anyone to resist her charm so easily.

Taking the storage pouch from Gu Changqing, Mu Ziyi sent her divine sense inside to inspect it.

Although the steward had already informed her beforehand, she still couldn’t help but cover her mouth in astonishment when she saw the massive corpse of the Demon King-level beast with her own eyes.

Even though Haiyue Auction House was one of the largest in the surrounding seas, the number of Demon King-level beast corpses it had auctioned off could be counted on one hand.

In shallow sea regions, the chance of encountering a Demon King was incredibly low.

Unless one ventured deep into the dangerous Wanwao Sea’s abyssal depths to hunt, but those with the strength to do so were extremely rare—even across the entire southern region of the Myriad Beasts Sea.

Even King Realm experts wouldn’t dare step into the deep sea lightly. That was beast territory, and even a King Realm cultivator might not return alive.

“Young Master Gu, this… if I may ask, where did you obtain the corpse of this Water Wolf King?” Mu Ziyi asked hesitantly. Then, as if fearing Gu Changqing would misunderstand, she quickly added, “I don’t mean anything by it—just curious. If it’s inconvenient to say, forget I asked.”

Only then did Gu Changqing learn the name of the beast he had slain. He chuckled. “I killed it myself.”

Mu Ziyi rolled her eyes slightly and thought, If you don’t want to say, just say so. No need to make up something so obviously fake.

Her reaction was completely expected by Gu Changqing.

It was only natural that she didn’t believe him—no one would.

But what Gu Changqing said was completely true.

He mused silently: If I disguised myself as an old man, would my words sound more believable?

Shrugging, Gu Changqing didn’t bother explaining further.

He had told the truth—whether Mu Ziyi believed it or not was her business.

“Besides that, I also have a batch of pills,” Gu Changqing added, pulling out another storage pouch and handing it to her. “I don’t want these to go to auction. Just tell me what your auction house can offer. If the price is fair, I’ll sell them directly to you.”

Mu Ziyi took a glance inside the pouch—and her just-settled emotions were stirred once more.

“Restoration Pills, Qi Gathering Pills, Ice Heart Pills, Detoxification Pills…”

The pouch contained a wide variety of common pills, all in considerable quantities.

But that wasn’t the main point. The shocking part was… almost all of them were Pill Mark-level!

Pill Mark-grade pills were not easy to refine. Even high-tier alchemists, like a 3rd-tier alchemist making a 1st-tier pill, might not be able to produce a pill with even a single mark.

Yet the pills in this pouch had multiple marks—some even had as many as eight or nine!

The person who refined these must be a Pill Emperor, right?

But were there any Pill Emperors in the Myriad Beasts Sea?

Historically, there had been, but in the last several hundred years, even Pill Kings were rare, let alone Pill Emperors.

Mu Ziyi gave Gu Changqing a deep look. Did this guy stumble upon some ancient inheritance or a long-lost alchemist’s cave?

A complete Demon King corpse, and now a stockpile of high-grade pills…

After tallying them up, she said, “Twenty-six Restoration Pills—three with eight marks, ten with seven…”

After calculating, Mu Ziyi offered her price.

“Our Haiyue Auction House is willing to pay 53,000 lower-grade spirit stones for this batch of pills. What do you think, Young Master Gu?”

Before coming, Gu Changqing had already familiarized himself with the market prices of pills, and Mu Ziyi’s offer wasn’t low.

“As for the Demon King’s corpse,” she continued, “if it’s to be auctioned, the house will charge a 5% commission based on the final selling price. Is that acceptable to you, Young Master Gu?”

“Please rest assured—if you entrust this to Haiyue Auction House, I, Mu Ziyi, will do everything in my power to fetch a price you’ll be satisfied with.”

“That’s fine,” Gu Changqing nodded, not interested in haggling over a few spirit stones.

This trip to sea had brought him quite the unexpected reward. The Water Wolf King’s corpse alone was worth more than all the pills he had on hand.

“Oh, one more thing—if I bring more Pill Mark-grade pills in the future, can your auction house still take them?”

Just before leaving, Gu Changqing suddenly asked.

He didn’t have any pills on him now—but he could make more.

If Haiyue Auction House could take all of them, it would save Gu Changqing the trouble of looking for other buyers in the future.

“Young Master Gu, you still have more?”

Mu Ziyi was taken aback. The storage pouch Gu Changqing had just handed over already contained a considerable number of pills.

She had assumed that was everything—but from his tone, it sounded like there was more?

“I don’t have any right now, but I can refine more. If your auction house can handle the volume, we might be able to establish a long-term partnership.”

Mu Ziyi: “…”

In Mu Ziyi’s mind, Gu Changqing was becoming more and more absurd.

Slaying a Demon King, refining tier-two and tier-three Pill Mark-level elixirs—what’s next, claiming to be a Pill Emperor?

“Of course. No matter how many pills you have, Haiyue Auction House can take them all.”

Elixirs—especially those for healing, restoring spiritual power, or detoxification—were always in short supply. In the southern region of the Myriad Beasts Sea, with so many sects and cultivators, the demand for pills was astronomical. There was simply no such thing as not being able to sell them.

“That’s good to hear.”

“I’ll be off.”

Without lingering, Gu Changqing turned and left.

Leaving behind a frustrated and puzzled Mu Ziyi.

She stared at his retreating figure and shook her head.

Her impression of Gu Changqing wasn’t particularly good—mainly because he talked like a braggart. One moment claiming he’d slain a Demon King, the next claiming he refined high-grade alchemical pills.

Just after Gu Changqing left, an old man silently appeared behind Mu Ziyi.

“Elder Yin!”

His sudden appearance startled Mu Ziyi, and she quickly bowed with respect.

Haiyue Auction House was jointly run by five Half-King clans. Each clan had at least one Half-King cultivator.

The Mu Clan ranked second among the five, and had two Half-Kings. The elder who had just appeared—Elder Yin—was one of them.

“Little Ziyi, what do you think of that young man?”

Elder Yin was clearly referring to Gu Changqing.

“Not much. He’s full of lies,” Mu Ziyi replied.

Elder Yin smiled slightly. “Now, that’s where you’re wrong. What he said might not be lies—it’s just too unbelievable for you to accept.”

“Huh?”

This time, Mu Ziyi was stunned.

Not lies?

What did that mean?

“Just yesterday, I received word that in the southern Myriad Beasts Sea, a Profound King-level demon beast appeared—but was quickly slain by a passing King Realm cultivator. According to reports, it took just one sword strike.”

“If I’m not mistaken, the beast mentioned in those rumors is the very one in your storage ring.”

“And the pills he gave you—I checked them. All of them are Pill Mark-grade, and they’re smooth, full, with a faint medicinal fragrance. They clearly weren’t stored for long—likely refined within the last three months.”

“What!?”

Mu Ziyi was utterly shocked.

So everything Gu Changqing said was true?

Not a single lie from beginning to end?

She had dismissed it all because it sounded too outrageous?

She had… completely misjudged him?

“Twenty years old. King Realm. The Myriad Beasts Sea has gained an extraordinary figure,” Elder Yin said with admiration.

“Little Ziyi, when Young Master Gu returns, you mustn’t be negligent. If we can build a relationship with him, it would be a tremendous boon for the Mu Clan.”

Elder Yin didn’t blame Mu Ziyi.

The whole thing was too far-fetched. A King Realm cultivator at twenty? That’s a genius worthy of being on the Spirit Ranking—and now such a prodigy had appeared in this small corner of the southern Myriad Beasts Sea.

“I understand,” Mu Ziyi replied, still shaken.

A twenty-year-old King Realm expert—it was just too unreal.

There were other geniuses in the south, like that young master from the True Martial Sect, who reached the Tribulation Realm at twenty.

But compared to Gu Changqing…

They weren’t even in the same league.

As the shock faded, anxiety crept in. Did my earlier attitude offend him…?

“Little Ziyi, if I remember correctly… you’re still unmarried, yes?”

“You’re not getting any younger, either.”

“I think that Gu Changqing is quite suitable—very suitable.”

Elder Yin chuckled, and Mu Ziyi’s face flushed red.

“Elder Yin, please stop teasing me. If what you say is all true, someone like him wouldn’t even look at me.”

“A natural charm physique like yours is rare. To marry such a man—even as a concubine—would be an incredible opportunity for you.”

“I’m just making a suggestion. Hehe. I’ll take my leave.”

With that, Elder Yin’s figure vanished from the private room
