Chapter 15 The plot reappears

Why didn’t Wan Yongchun dare to fight Luo Xingyun one-on-one?

It’s simple—he couldn’t beat Luo Xingyun.

Most children from prestigious families attend elite schools.

And those schools are different from schools for ordinary people.

When conflicts and grudges arise there, what matters is family background and influence, social connections, and wealth.

Fighting is considered the lowest and most primitive form of conflict resolution in the eyes of the upper class.

But in regular schools, it’s a different story.

When something unfair happens or someone gets bullied, it’s usually settled with fists.

They’re all just kids, after all, and don’t hold serious grudges.

School conflicts don’t usually involve personal gain or loss—at most, it’s a matter of pride.

Sometimes, a fight is how people get to know each other and end up respecting one another.

So Luo Xingyun had been in plenty of fights at school, and he had a lot of experience.

Not something someone like Wan Yongchun, a pampered elite, could compare to.

Wan Yongchun was beaten to the ground in just a few moves by Luo Xingyun, who then stood over him with a foot on his chest, speaking arrogantly.

At first, Luo Xinghe didn’t think much of it—he knew Luo Xingyun had a sense of restraint, and wouldn’t beat Wan Yongchun too badly.

But the longer he looked at the scene, the more familiar it felt.

Then suddenly it hit him—just as he was about to shout for him to stop—

A man burst through the door like a thunderclap wrapped in lightning.

This man carried an overpowering aura, like he brought his own background music wherever he went. It was as if he appeared carrying a stereo on his shoulder.

He walked like a king, his presence commanding the room—clearly no ordinary person.

There was a faint, confident smile on his lips, as if he looked down on the world.

Luo Xinghe froze.

Even though the original story had so many over-the-top descriptions that Luo Xinghe couldn’t quite picture what the “Crooked-Mouth Dragon King” Zhou Shuai was supposed to look like…

The moment this man appeared, he knew—this was Zhou Shuai.

Zhou Shuai casually shoved Luo Xingyun—who was immediately sent flying like he’d been pushed by a bodybuilder, his feet leaving the ground.

“In broad daylight, under the clear skies, and you dare to bully someone like this?”

“I, Zhou Shuai, cannot stand injustice!”

Luo Xinghe almost exploded.

Just because you’re the protagonist, does that mean you can make up anything you want?!

Look at the scene! Who’s bullying who here?!

Luo Xinghe glanced around the room—

The three bodyguards were already huddled in a corner.

After all, they were here to bully kids and now an adult had shown up—it was embarrassing.

Plus, the name “Young Master Luo” still carried weight here. They had tested the waters earlier, and got wiped out by him in a few swift moves. They didn’t have the nerve to get back in the way.

Not all bodyguards are trusted family retainers.

Clearly, Wan Yongchun didn’t hold enough status in the Wan family.

These three were just hired hands—why risk their lives when they knew they’d lose? They were just working for a paycheck.

Now that the bodyguards had stepped aside and stood like bystanders—

The scene had completely changed.

Luo Xingyun was standing arrogantly with his foot on Wan Yongchun’s chest.

Luo Xinghe, an adult, stood behind him.

And a bunch of hot-blooded teenagers were gathered around, backing Luo Xingyun.

It now looked exactly like a young master from a powerful family bullying an ordinary kid with his entourage.

Luo Xinghe was stunned.

Damn… this really did look like some privileged brat bullying someone.

But that wasn’t the truth!

Luo Xinghe had wanted to stop the fight earlier precisely because this scene felt familiar.

In the original story, the Luo family hadn’t fallen. Luo Xingyun also brought bodyguards around with him.

But the Luo family’s bodyguards were far more competent than the Wan family’s. So eventually, things escalated into Luo Xingyun stepping on Wan Yongchun’s face, looking like the ultimate victor.

At that moment, Zhou Shuai had appeared—and upon seeing that scene, of course he had to intervene.

In the world of the “Crooked-Mouth Dragon King,” the protagonist always stood up for the weak and fought against injustice.

Eventually, Luo Xingyun clashed with Zhou Shuai, and Zhou Shuai beat up the Luo family’s bodyguards.

That was the second major strike against the Luo family’s reputation.

The first had been when Zhou Shuai helped Shen Ying and saw that Young Master Luo just stood by and watched.

From then on, Zhou Shuai viewed the Luo family as the final boss villains of Fengcheng—

The corrupt elites who ruled everything from the shadows.

Luo Xinghe had a thousand complaints he wanted to yell out at the top of his lungs..

I deliberately ruined the Luo family’s status. I didn’t even assign any bodyguards to Luo Xingyun, all to avoid triggering the plot of the original story.

But damn it—this is exactly what I was afraid of, and yet it still happened.

Although the details were different, the outcome was the same.

Is this what people mean when they say “some things are destined”?

Man, this is just too cruel.

Luo Xingyun, after being shoved aside, clearly refused to accept it. He immediately got up, ready to start cursing.

“You mother—”

“Mmmph mmph—”

Luo Xinghe instantly clamped a hand over his younger brother’s mouth and whispered:

“Shut up. We can’t afford to mess with this guy.”

“I’ll deal with you later!”

Before Luo Xingyun could even react—

Luo Xinghe strode quickly up to Zhou Shuai, stopped in front of him, and said:

“Could it be that this mighty hero is none other than the legendary Borderlands War God, Zhou Shuai?”

“Truly majestic and imposing, radiating charisma, dashing and handsome—beloved by all who see him.”

Zhou Shuai paused in surprise.

I just got to Fengcheng. Hardly anyone should even know I’m here.

And I’m not exactly famous for my appearance or anything.

I had a strange adventure as a kid and trained under a master…

Then I joined the military on the border. How did my name end up being known in Fengcheng?

Sigh…

As they say—gold will always shine.

If my reputation has already reached this far, then maybe the plan to unite Fengcheng’s noble families will be easier than I thought.

Just as the world says—

I, Zhou Shuai, truly am the chosen one.

Even a backwater place like Fengcheng has people who know me.

Unbelievable…

Seeing what he assumed was a fan, Zhou Shuai gave a modest smile—

His lips curling into an unnaturally wide and strangely angled smirk, looking almost creepy and sinister.

Luo Xinghe’s own mouth twitched.

So this is the infamous “Crooked-Mouth Dragon King” smile?

Seriously… how stupid can you look?

In his mind, a little inner version of himself was screaming:

“Quick! He’s smiling—tear his mouth apart while there’s still time!”

Zhou Shuai, with that signature crooked grin, asked:

“Oh? You’ve heard my story?”

Luo Xinghe nodded enthusiastically:

“Yes! Just your smile alone tells a whole story, Zhou Shuai the Great.”

Zhou Shuai beamed with pride, casually flicking his head in an attempt to toss his bangs for flair…

But then he suddenly remembered—

He’d shaved them off to keep a low profile.

So his dramatic hair toss… ended up as a completely useless motion.

Luo Xinghe was dumbfounded.

What the hell are you even flicking?

You’ve got a crew cut. What kind of hairdo do you think you have?!

Still, to save Zhou Shuai from embarrassment,

Luo Xinghe quickly added:

“Of course I’ve heard tales of the War God of the Borderlands.”

“I had no idea you’d grace us with your presence—I deeply regret not welcoming you sooner.”

A little flattery never hurt.

Zhou Shuai nodded with a proud air:

“Mm.”

“You’re not bad. I think you’ve got potential.”

“What’s your name again?”

Luo Xinghe smiled and replied:

“Ah, don’t worry about my name for now. My admiration for the great Zhou Shuai is as boundless as the river, never-ending and ever-flowing.”

“Why don’t we go somewhere more suitable to talk?”
