Chapter 10: Young Man, You’re Getting Arrogant

It was great that someone was leading the way—if all future guests were this self-aware, life would be much easier!

The Chen siblings lay comfortably on the living room sofa after a satisfying meal.

Chen Mo rubbed his belly, looking like he was stuffed to the throat.

“The boss’s cooking is just too good. I honestly want to live here forever and never leave!”

“Yeah, me too!” Chen Xiaoxiao agreed.

Xiao Yu wandered aimlessly around the first floor. Aside from cooking, he really had nothing else to do.

Seeing Xiao Yu coming over, Chen Mo immediately sat up.

“Boss, what is this thing? It’s so soft to sit on. I’ve never seen anything like it before—so novel!”

Xiao Yu sat down beside him, also enjoying the comfort.

“A sofa,” he replied.

“A sofa? What a strange name. Boss, where can I buy one? I’ll ask my dad to order a couple sets for our house!”

Xiao Yu rolled his eyes. “This is one-of-a-kind in the world.”

“Boss, I’ll buy a set from you. Name your price!”

“You can’t afford it. And I don’t have any more.”

He crushed Chen Mo’s dream in one sentence. The system had only given him one set for the shop—where was he supposed to get extras?

Chen Mo was disappointed for a moment but quickly recovered. Thinking of the cultivation boost in the guest rooms, he got excited again. Time to get serious after that feast!

“Boss, I’ll leave you to it. I’m heading upstairs to cultivate!”

“Mm.”
“I’m going too!” Chen Xiaoxiao followed him upstairs.

Soon, the living room was empty again.

Xiao Yu sighed—business really wasn’t easy. If it hadn’t been for Xu Shaoyun bringing in some friends today, his mission would still seem hopeless.

Meanwhile, Weng Wuya was overwhelmed with excitement. After all his years, he had never seen a place this magical.

He had heard the Chen siblings talk about the miraculous effects of the guest rooms during lunch.

At first, he was curious but didn’t take it seriously. Such things only existed in legends—how could they suddenly be real?

Reality, however, had slapped him in the face.

“It’s all true!”

He muttered with a trembling voice, waves of emotion stirring in his heart.

“This boss must be a great master in hiding!”

In Weng Wuya’s mind, Xiao Yu’s status soared to unimaginable heights.

“That powerful and mysterious aura from this morning when the shop opened must have been the boss’s unintentional release of power!”

The more he thought about that moment, the more convinced he became.

A reclusive master living in the wilderness… a magical inn… a mystical chef… Everything about this place was drenched in mystery!

——

After a nice nap, Xiao Yu walked out of his room. Da Huang was napping at his door.

Suddenly—

A loud shout echoed from upstairs.

“WAHAHA, I finally broke through! Xu Shaoyun, come fight me!”

The shouting and boasting sounded quite juvenile, even a bit cringe-worthy from an outsider’s perspective.

“Peh! Damn Cao Gou, don’t get cocky! Let me deal with you!”

“Go fight outside!”

Suddenly—

A booming voice filled the entire inn, heavy with overwhelming pressure, making it hard for everyone to breathe.

Xu Shaoyun and a young man in white robes dropped to the ground, drenched in cold sweat.

“Damn you Cao Gou, I told you not to mess around! Now you’ve made the boss mad, we’re both screwed!” Xu hissed.

The white-robed boy trembled, his teeth chattering.

“And you’re blaming me now? You were in on it too! Some friend you are!”

“Ahem, lost control… lost control!” Xu Shaoyun said with an awkward grin.

Thankfully, that overwhelming pressure vanished after a few seconds.

They glanced at each other and slowly got up, taking deep breaths.

“Looks like the boss was just giving us a warning. We better not mess around again.”

“Yeah yeah! The boss is seriously the most powerful person I’ve ever seen. Are you sure your dad’s stronger than him?”

Xu hesitated. Though he hadn’t seen the boss actually fight, that aura…

He forced a bitter smile.
“Maybe not.”

——

Downstairs, Xiao Yu stood with a darkened expression.

These youngsters were too rowdy. He hadn’t even had the inn open that long!

Weng Wuya had also been stunned by that wave of mysterious power.

Once again, he was certain: the boss had to be a supreme expert.

He narrowed his eyes, gazing into the distance, muttering to himself:

“Maybe… just maybe… this time it’s really possible…”

Da Huang was leisurely strolling in the courtyard as the sun began to set.

Golden light bathed the inn in warmth. The gentle autumn breeze rustled the surrounding trees. Even in another world, autumn felt just as pleasant.

At that moment, more guests arrived.

A group of middle-aged men in leather armor and carrying large blades stepped into the yard.

“How come we didn’t see this place last time we passed through here?” the leader muttered, looking around.

Xiao Bai noticed the visitors and quickly stepped out to greet them.

“Welcome, guests. Would you like to stay at the inn?”

“An inn? You’re saying this is an inn?”
A short man nearby laughed.
“An inn in a remote and dangerous place like this? What’s the owner thinking?”

The others chuckled too.

But Xiao Bai just smiled politely and repeated,

“Welcome, guests. Would you like to stay at the inn?”

The leader gave her a curious look, finding her calm demeanour a bit strange.

Her eyes were empty, almost lifeless, and her speech seemed a bit robotic.

But he brushed it off—maybe that was just her personality.

“Alright, it’s getting late. We were planning to return to town anyway. Since we’ve found a place to stay, we’ll take five rooms.”

“Certainly, guests. That will be fifty spirit stones.”

The leader’s eyes widened in disbelief, his companions all looking furious.

They risked their lives daily for barely that amount, and here this place wanted ten spirit stones per room for one night?!

“This is daylight robbery! Worse than a bandit den!” the short man shouted.

Meanwhile, Xiao Bai just kept smiling calmly.

Xiao Yu sighed—this AI bot’s intelligence was still too low. She could only handle basic reception, payments, and explaining room features.

Anything beyond that and she might just crash.

The system had said she needed upgrades to become more intelligent. For now, she was just running on simple pre-set commands.

Xiao Yu was about to step forward and explain when he saw a white-robed figure step out of the inn.

“Please calm down, guests.”

The group of men turned to look—an elderly man with white hair and beard. It was Weng Wuya.

“What do you mean by that, old man?”

Weng Wuya chuckled.
“Let me explain. This inn is unlike any other ordinary establishment.”

“Oh? How so?”

Weng Wuya then gave them a brief rundown of the miraculous guest room features. The men all looked shocked, exchanging glances.

“Is what you’re saying really true, old man?”

“Haha, do you think I’d lie to young folks like you? Try it for yourself—if I’m lying, I’ll pay for your spirit stones out of my own pocket!”
