Chapter 14: Frenzied Slaughter, Attribute Surge

“Is everyone good to go?”

Li Dao turned to look at the others.

If any of them wanted to retreat, he wouldn’t stop them. But if they were asking him to leave, then no matter what, he’d at least get a few kills in before that happened. He couldn’t just come here for nothing.

Xu Hu didn’t say a word, but a wild aura started to radiate from his body.

Little Lunatic seemed to understand too. He ripped the cloth from his mouth and bared his teeth at the camp, growling.

“I’m an old man—I’ve seen everything. This is nothing.”

Even though their plan had failed, Old Ghost still looked confident.

Finally, Shen San, seeing the other four were all in, forced himself to say, “Of course I’m in too.”

Li Dao nodded. “If everyone’s good, then let’s go.”

With that, he drew the black iron saber from his waist and charged straight into the camp.

“Awooo!”

Xu Hu let out a beastly howl and followed close behind.

Little Lunatic stood on Xu Hu’s shoulders, shouting wildly.

Old Ghost watched the three of them rush off and shook his head. “Young people… always so impulsive.”

He pulled some vials and powders from his robe, dumped them into a gourd, and walked slowly toward the camp, a strange grin on his face.

Shen San gritted his teeth and followed. If those four died, he wouldn’t have a good end either—might as well go all in.

“Who are you?!”

Li Dao’s sudden appearance was quickly noticed by the guards of the Third Prince of Luoyun. They shouted and tried to intercept him.

But their answer came in the form of a flashing blade.

In a flash, three guards had their throats slit by the black iron saber.

Immediately, that familiar and oh-so-welcome notification sounded in Li Dao’s mind:

[Killed one enemy. Attribute gained: 0.18]
[Killed one enemy. Attribute gained: 0.20]
[Killed one enemy. Attribute gained: 0.21]

Seeing such high-quality returns, Li Dao smiled with satisfaction.

The nearby guards had also witnessed the scene.

“Enemy spotted! Kill him!”

“There’s one here too—he’s huge!”

“Ahhh! There’s a lunatic over here!”

“What is this?! It hurts so much!”

Elsewhere, Xu Hu and the others had broken into the camp from different angles.

The already chaotic camp instantly descended into further chaos.

Meanwhile…

Inside the main tent of the Luoyun tribe:

“Jin Sheng, what’s going on out there? Why is it so noisy?!”

The Third Prince of Luoyun sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes with a frown.

Jin Sheng stepped forward and knelt down, saying, “Your Highness, someone is trying to assassinate you. The guards are currently engaged with the enemy.”

“Assassinate me?!”

The prince jolted fully awake, alarmed. “Why would someone want to assassinate me?”

Jin Sheng’s face darkened—he’d already explained this earlier, only to be rebuffed.

But since he was responsible for the prince’s safety, he calmly replied, “It’s likely someone wants to sabotage your negotiations with the Tamu tribe.”

“Someone actually wants me dead…”

The prince’s shock turned into panic. “The assassins… they won’t actually make it in here, right?”

With a confident look, Jin Sheng stood up. “Don’t worry, Your Highness. I observed the assassins earlier—there are only five of them. They can’t possibly get through our three hundred guards, especially with me here.”

The prince relaxed a little, then suddenly perked up. “Can I go out and watch how they get killed?”

Jin Sheng was about to refuse, but then he thought—if the prince saw how powerful their guards were, it might help win more trust. Against his better judgment, he nodded.

“With me by your side, Your Highness, you can watch in complete safety.”

“Then let’s go.”

“Please, Your Highness.”

Back in the camp, Li Dao wielded his black iron saber and the Whirlwind Blade Technique like a whirlwind of death, cutting through the guards like wheat.

Wherever the blade passed, it left behind either severed limbs or sprays of blood.

The enemy’s attacks were completely neutralized by his sharp instincts and precise defense.

Watching his attribute points steadily rise, Li Dao fought with increasing joy.

Elsewhere…

The others were also on a killing spree.

Towering at 2.5 meters tall, Xu Hu was like a human tank, plowing through groups of guards. He didn’t even need a weapon—just his fists. And despite his barehanded approach, not a single guard could get close.

Little Lunatic, meanwhile, was finally living up to his name. Agile and unpredictable, he darted through the chaos, ambushing and slaying with every move.

From time to time, Little Lunatic would leap onto Xu Hu’s shoulder, baring his teeth and growling at the guards around them.

It didn’t look like he was killing people—more like he was just having fun.

The strangest of all, though, was Old Ghost.

At first, his erratic behavior had left people unsure of just how capable he really was.

But now, he was going around with a gourd in hand, releasing poison wherever he went.

Wherever the poisonous gas drifted, guards who inhaled it immediately turned red-eyed.

Then, as if infected with madness, they began to attack everything and everyone around them—friend or foe alike—biting, clawing, and tearing.

It turned out Old Ghost’s reputation was true: he never killed with poison.

And indeed, his poison didn’t kill—it just made people lose their minds and tear each other apart.

As for Shen San, he was fulfilling his role as the team’s “dead weight” perfectly.

He spent the entire battle running and hiding, doing who-knows-what.

The flap of the main tent was suddenly lifted by Jin Sheng, who cheerfully said, “Your Highness, please take a look—your guards are fighting desperately to protect you.”

The next second, a figure came flying through the air toward them.

“Your Highness, look out!”

Jin Sheng reacted instantly, kicking the incoming figure with lightning speed.

But once the figure hit the ground, he realized… he had just kicked one of his own men.

“Kill them!”

A savage roar echoed through the chaos.

Jin Sheng turned back—only to see a towering, ferocious man barreling toward them like a mad beast.

It was none other than Xu Hu, now fully consumed by his wild nature.

He was shirtless, his muscular frame cut and bleeding in dozens of places.

But his muscles were so dense, the wounds were all superficial—nothing more than scratches.

His fists were drenched in red, soaked with blood and gore.

At that moment, Xu Hu no longer looked like a man—but a raging tiger.

On his shoulder, Little Lunatic howled nonstop, occasionally leaping at guards’ faces, tearing at them with claws and teeth.

“Ahhh!”

The Third Prince of Luoyun had just stepped out of the tent and happened to witness this terrifying scene.

Coddled his whole life, he had never seen anything so brutal. He shuddered uncontrollably, and suddenly felt a warm, damp sensation spreading between his legs.

“Jin Sheng, quick… stop them!”

The prince pointed frantically at Xu Hu and Little Lunatic.

As a martial artist of the second rank (Postnatal stage), Jin Sheng immediately sensed the prince’s condition. Though loyal, even he couldn’t help showing a hint of disdain in his eyes.

He glanced at the two maniacs, frowning. “Your Highness, I suggest we let the guards stall them. There are still three other assassins unaccounted for. I should stay by your side for protection.”

But the prince wasn’t listening. The humiliation of wetting himself had completely overwhelmed him. He had only one thought: Those two bastards made me lose face—they must die!

“I order you, as the Third Prince, to kill them!”

“Your Highness, but your safety—”

“Have the rest of the guards protect me. You go kill those monsters!”

“But—”

“Are you disobeying a direct royal order?!”

That shut Jin Sheng up. He knew he couldn’t afford the charge of defying royal authority—he had no choice.

He quickly summoned a dozen nearby guards. “Protect the Third Prince!”

With that, he bolted toward Xu Hu and Little Lunatic.

Right now, all he wanted was to vent the shame he felt through their deaths—and silence the frustration in his heart.

“Die!!”

Jin Sheng reached Xu Hu first, throwing a powerful punch.

Xu Hu sensed his strength and didn’t dare take him lightly. He let out a roar and swung one of his massive fists—big as a sandbag—straight toward him.

Bang!

The two fists collided with a thunderous sound, creating a shockwave that kicked up a layer of dirt from the ground.

Jin Sheng felt the force traveling up his arm, and his face changed slightly, but he quickly gritted his teeth and shouted, “Retreat!”

His inner true qi surged, and with another push, his fists regained momentum.

This time, Xu Hu was sent flying backward by the sudden burst of force.

Xu Hu’s ferocious eyes flashed with a hint of confusion, seemingly surprised by the strength of his opponent. But soon, he recovered and got back into his fighting stance.

On the other side, Jin Sheng was shocked as well, realizing that his opponent had been fighting without using any true qi. Instead, he was relying entirely on brute strength, yet it still took Jin Sheng almost all his effort to counter him.

What kind of monster is this?

Perhaps finding a worthy opponent had sparked Xu Hu’s excitement, as he grinned, a savage smile twisting his face.

“Kill!”

He suddenly roared and charged straight at Jin Sheng.

Jin Sheng, regaining his focus, drew the long sword from his waist.

He had realized that this opponent was no ordinary man—he was like a wild beast, a ferocious tiger.

If it were a normal person using such brute force, Jin Sheng might have been more cautious, but this was a beast. And when fighting a beast, he wasn’t afraid.

After all, there was still a difference between man and beast.

Li Dao’s mastery of the Wind Blade technique became increasingly smoother. Guards fell in droves under his blade, and the area was soon littered with corpses.

In the end, the remaining guards only dared to encircle him but didn’t dare approach. They were terrified of ending up like the others who had already fallen.

Seizing this moment, Li Dao took a quick glance at his status screen.

[Owner: Li Dao]
[Physique: 9.38]
[Available Attributes: 8.69]

Though he had already suspected as much, seeing the amount of available attributes stunned him.

His available attributes were almost equal to his physique, meaning that after distributing the points, his physique could almost double.

This realization sparked a surge of excitement within him, and a slight smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

The sight made the surrounding guards shudder with fear, thinking the maniac would turn on them next.

A few even began to retreat.

The reason for their fear was clear: after a long period of encirclement and slaughter, they had lost forty to fifty men—nearly a sixth of their total number.

Yet, they hadn’t managed to even scratch their opponent. Not a single guard had been injured, let alone killed.

What was even more terrifying was that, despite the long, exhausting battle, their enemy seemed tireless. He hadn’t even breathed heavily, and though he appeared human, he felt more like a monster, unflagging and relentless.

Facing such an opponent, it was impossible to see any hope, and that was why they were on the verge of collapse.

“Die!”

Suddenly, a loud shout rang out in the distance, the voice booming with power.

Then, a massive commotion followed.

“Who is it?” Li Dao instinctively looked toward the source of the noise.

Such a commotion meant a powerful figure had entered the fray.

And since the voice was unfamiliar, it was most likely one of the hidden experts among the guards.

This meant that someone had encountered this hidden master.

With that thought, Li Dao scanned the remaining guards, flicked the blood off his Xuan Iron Blade, and began walking toward the source of the noise.

Seeing this, the guards blocking his path hurriedly scattered, fearing that the monstrous figure in front of them might casually dispatch them as well.

Though Li Dao felt a bit of regret at the loss of his would-be prey, he wasn’t heartless enough to abandon his teammates.

Despite being a temporary team and having some rather eccentric members, as the leader, it was his responsibility to bring everyone back safely.

Especially now, when he believed he had the strength to handle whatever came next.
