Chapter 3: Xiao Bai

The night was already deep, yet Xu Shaoyun wasn’t the least bit sleepy—partly because he was hungry, but more so because everything in the room was just too fascinating!

The metal pipe that automatically produced water, and it could even switch between hot and cold!
That magical “body wash” and “shampoo”—when applied, it made his skin feel silky smooth, and the scent that lingered afterward was simply intoxicating!
And the big bed—so soft and comfortable!

Xu Shaoyun bounced on the bed like a child, completely thrilled.

“Ding-dong!”
“Who’s there?”
The sudden chime made him stop bouncing and cautiously look toward the door.

“Good evening, guest. Here is your dinner.”
A soft, sweet girl’s voice rang out. Xu Shaoyun quickly approached the door and opened it slightly.

When he saw Xiao Bai’s signature smile, he immediately let down his guard.

“Good evening, guest. Here is your dinner.”
“Oh, ah, thanks…”
Xu Shaoyun was momentarily stunned, then accepted the food.
“And you are?”

“I’m Xiao Bai, the staff here.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Xu Shaoyun.”
Xiao Bai simply smiled again without replying.
“Please enjoy your meal.”
Then she turned and walked away, leaving Xu Shaoyun dumbfounded.

“So fragrant…”
He didn’t dwell on it, as the smell of the food was drawing all his attention.

The aroma was mouth-watering!
The entire room was filled with the smell of delicious food.

With sparkling eyes, Xu Shaoyun couldn’t wait—he picked up the egg fried rice and took a big bite.
“Ahh! So good…”
The explosion of flavour on his tongue made him unable to stop eating.

Unconsciously, his face began to flush, his whole body warming up, and faint glowing streams of light started flowing around him.

“Burp~”
With a satisfied belch, Xu Shaoyun put down the empty plate, trembling slightly as he felt the surge of spiritual energy within him. He was immediately overwhelmed with excitement.

“This… my spiritual power actually increased!”

He had originally come to the Wild Forest to seek a chance to break through his bottleneck, but now, just eating a bowl of egg fried rice had caused that stagnant cultivation to stir again!

“This can’t be ordinary ingredients!”
For cultivators, food with such magical effects was more precious than countless spiritual pills—and it actually tasted amazing, unlike the bitter and tasteless pills!

To both enjoy delicious food and improve cultivation at the same time—what could be better in this world?

With that thought, Xu Shaoyun dashed out of the room.

Xiao Yu had just finished making dinner for Da Huang and was getting ready to wash up and rest.
As for guests, today’s start was promising. The future looked bright. There was no need to rush—especially with Xiao Bai being a robot who could watch the inn all night.

“Boss! Boss!”
“What is it now?”
Xu Shaoyun excitedly grabbed Xiao Yu’s shoulders, but the latter brushed him off right away.

He didn’t take offense, though.
“Boss, what was in that food?”
“Egg fried rice, of course. Rice and eggs.”
“No, I mean, what kind of rice and eggs?”

Xiao Yu rolled his eyes.
“Clear Spring Fragrant Rice, and Spirit Phoenix Eggs.”
He had asked the system earlier, and that was the answer. Though personally, he hadn’t noticed much difference in taste.

Xu Shaoyun’s face showed an I knew it expression.
“I knew it—third-grade spiritual Clear Rice and third-grade magical Spirit Phoenix eggs. Boss, you’re too kind to me!”

Seeing the boy’s burning gaze, Xiao Yu shuddered.
“Don’t get the wrong idea. You’re the inn’s first guest—consider it a welcome bonus. In the future, you’ll have to pay spirit stones for food.”
Xu Shaoyun didn’t mind. Food like this being free was already unbelievable!

“Oh, and all rooms here are enhanced with a special formation. Cultivation speed is three times faster than outside.”
“What?!”
“Why are you yelling…” Xiao Yu gave him a displeased look.
“Sorry, sorry boss—I just got too excited! Three times faster! Boss, are you serious?”
“Do I look like someone who jokes about candy?”
“Uh…”

“Just a friendly reminder—checkout is strictly at noon!”
Xu Shaoyun vanished in a flash, already running upstairs.

Back in his room, he sat cross-legged on the bed and began cultivating.
Soon, he could feel the spiritual energy flowing through him—just as the boss had said. It really was faster!

This was amazing!

Xu Shaoyun clenched his fists, his eyes burning with determination.
The boss wasn’t lying!
He needed to seize the opportunity and aim for a breakthrough tonight!

So, it turns out—this inn was my destined chance!

Xiao Yu lay in bed.
“System, can you explain the cultivation system of this world to me?”
“On the Dragon Soar Continent, cultivators are classified into: Body Tempering, Vein Opening, Spirit Resonance, Divine Art, Purple Mansion, King Sealing, Supreme, Great Saint, and Saint King.”

“Can I cultivate?”
“Host has low aptitude and missed the ideal age for cultivation.”
Xiao Yu rolled his eyes at the answer.

“However, every time the host completes a special mission, the system will directly raise your cultivation level.”
“What’s a special mission?”
“You’ll find out when the time comes.”

Xiao Yu didn’t pry further. Currently, he was invincible within a 10-kilometer radius around the inn, so he didn’t feel an urgent need for power.
Go with the flow!

The Next Morning.
Xiao Yu got up early and headed to the front desk, where he found Xiao Bai already sitting properly and upright.

He couldn’t help but marvel—robots really were amazing.
No sleep, no food, and they still got all the work done!

“Good morning, boss!”
“Mm…”
Xiao Yu headed into the kitchen and made two bowls of noodles. One for himself, and one for Da Huang.

“System, why don’t I feel any effect when I eat food made from the same ingredients?”
“All special effects are nullified for the host. Your food is just normal.”
“But I kinda want to experience that feeling too…”
“If not nullified, the host would die from spiritual energy overload.”
“…Got it.”

Just wait for the system to upgrade his power. Why waste time cultivating when you’ve already got a cheat code?

Ding!
“Chef system has detected a new recipe: Tomato and Egg Noodles. Menu updated!”
Grade: One Star
Effect: Slightly enhances spiritual affinity.
Price: One spirit stone.
“…Great.”

Upstairs, Xu Shaoyun had been cultivating all night without pause.

His fingers twitched. Suddenly, his eyes opened, glowing with brilliance.
Just as expected—he broke through!

He could feel the surging spiritual power in his body. He punched the air in excitement.
“Spirit Resonance Stage—I’ve done it!”

Not even twenty years old, and already at the Spirit Resonance level—he was now among the top young talents on the continent!

Coming downstairs, he saw Xiao Yu eating noodles and immediately felt hungry again.
The taste of last night’s egg fried rice still lingered in his memory.

“Good morning, boss!”
“Good morning, Miss Xiao Bai!”

“Good morning, guest…”

Seeing how refreshed and full of energy he looked, Xiao Yu couldn’t help but smile.
“Looks like you gained something, huh?”
Xu Shaoyun scratched the back of his head.
“Hehe, thanks to you, boss—I did break through!”
“Congratulations…”
“Thanks, boss. So, what are you eating?”

He leaned in, staring at the bowl. Xiao Yu immediately blocked him with one hand and pointed at the wall with the other.
“Read the menu.”

To save time in the future, Xiao Yu had made a menu board that morning and hung it on the wall, listing prices and detailed effects.

Since the cooking system had only registered two dishes so far—egg fried rice and tomato egg noodles—the menu only had those two.

“Boss… are you a spiritual chef?”

Xu Shaoyun was thrilled. He suddenly remembered his family once mentioning a legendary profession!

Others might not know, but he did—how powerful and rare spiritual chefs were!

Even though there were only two dishes, both had special effects.
Spiritual chefs were a unique profession on the Dragon Soar Continent—so rare that there might not even be one in an entire empire!
